Celebrate

Hello and Happy New Year,

Today I am sharing my entry to Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge Party Time.  I was thinking party  celebration, celebrate.

Celebrate then became my word of the year.  It made perfect sense in my foggy migraine filled mind.  But, thinking deeper about it, the word has a lot of meaning.  There are often big events to celebrate, but what about celebrating small daily events in our lives too?  Celebrating ourselves by being kinder to ourselves?  There are many ways to achieve this, they will be different for everyone, but we can all do something small to celebrate ourselves and each other.

For this art journal page I used Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays Pineapple Paradise, Hi Maintenance Magenta and Blue Hawaiian Blue, TCW stencils Layered Wallpaper and mini Fleur de Lis, Art Anthology Fiji velvet paste, Stamperia rice paper, Distress crayons, Ranger texture paste, Daler Rowney FW acrylic inks.

Thanks for looking,
Geraldine.

Sparkle

Hi everyone,

Today I have a card to share.  It is for Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge Let's Sparkle.  I have finally made a start on Christmas cards, meaning I have one finished, but it's a start.

I scrapped heavy gesso across a 5 inch piece of card, and placed Tim Holtz mini holiday greens die cuts in the still wet gesso to get an imprint.  When dry, I coloured the panel with Golden blue and green high flow acrylics, dried, added some iridescent fine gold high flow to one side and tilted it to get the paint to flow into the impressions of the die cuts.  I dried this layer and added lots of white splashes.

I die cut the largest snowflake from the Tim Holtz paper snowflakes set three times and layered them to get stronger piece.  I painted it with two layers of sparkle mod podge.  When dry I added a layer of mat gel to prevent stickiness and glued it to the card.  A die cut of Merry Christmas from Elizabeth Craft  Designs finishes the card.

Bookmark

Hi,

Today I am entering another challenge at Simon Says Stamp.  Tape It Up is the theme this week.  On a leftover gel print, that was a perfect bookmark size, I added some tape from Tim Holtz and Hambly Studio, dry brushed some black gesso, added white splatters and a Tim Holtz small talk sticker.  I finished it off with black soot archival ink.

Geraldine.

Gel Print Journal

Hello, and welcome to my blog.  I am Geraldine and enjoy a little crafting.

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge has a recycling theme this week and I decided to play along.  This challenge finally gave me the push I needed to complete a project using a biscuit box as the base.  It also gave me the push to start a blog.

I cut the box to size, covered it with gesso, masking tape, crackle paste, and a baby wipe saved from mopping up a previous project.  I added a chipboard piece that was sprayed with shimmer inks and acrylic paint, and some paper flowers.

The inside pages are made using gel press prints, using various stencils and acrylic paints.
